I once saw a quote from someone saying that Facebook is “a sewer of misinformation”: sadly the same can be said about the health & wellness industry and some of the practitioners, products, and services within it. It has also been said so many times that it is almost cliché to say, but with so much misinformation out there it is difficult to know who to trust or where to turn for information.
To the untrained observer, fads and gimmicks are extremely difficult to spot. The line between what works and what doesn’t work is oftentimes pretty blurry. But not for The Nutrition Advocate. We are highly trained and our BS meter is quite sensitive. Now, with that being said, even if we had a staff of 100 writers, it would be impossible to comment on all the nonsense that is churned out in the health & wellness industry day after day after day. To better serve you, the consumer, we would like you to ask us for our unbiased (or as unbiased as they can be) opinions on products, services, and practitioners.
Yes, even individual practitioners. We are not in the business of whitewashing entire professions. Not all chiropractors are bad nor are all physicians good; however, we believe there should be some type of “peer review” that is more than just Twitter arguments but rather, thoughtful commentary on why we might not totally agree with certain practices or philosophies (i.e. low-carb diets). If your product, service or philosophy is truly good, then we shouldn’t be able to poke very many holes in it but if it sucks it sucks, let’s call a spade a spade when we see one.
The Nutrition Advocate has created this webpage to let you ASK US to review any product, service or professional for our opinion on their legitimacy, credibility, and truthfulness. Anyone selling a particular product or service isn’t going to give you all the facts or both sides of the story. They are going to craft a message to fit with a specific narrative to tell you what you want to hear to promote a product or service.
On the other hand, we’re going to give it to you straight, no matter how much it hurts to hear it or who we have to offend. There’s no sense in tiptoeing around or not being direct. Your health is far too important. Please reach out to us and we’ll see what we can do to help you separate the fact from the fiction and improve your health to the best of your abilities.
